Collegiate Wind Competition
Cal Poly has been selected to compete in the 2024 Collegiate Wind Competition. It is an interdisciplinary competition sponsored by the Department of Energy and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
Competitions
There are three components of the competition that each team completes
Connection Creation
We connect with industry members to learn more about careers and paths in the wind energy industry. We then take what we learn and go into the community to spread the word and educate others about wind energy.
Project Development
The project development team designs a wind farm in the region chosen by the competition. We consider economic, legal, technological, and environmental factors to choose a site and map out a farm.
Turbine Development
The turbine development team designs and builds a prototype turbine to complete a series of challenges during the competition.
